Future-Ready Education SummitShaping the Future of Learning and Skills

On September 19th, the Casa da Cultura de Paredes hosted the Future-Ready
Education Summit, the multiplier event of the FuturSkills project, co-funded by the
European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme.
Bringing together more than 150 participants, including teachers, trainers, secondary
school students, institutional representatives, and national and international experts, The
event became a vibrant space for discussion, collaboration, and innovation in education
and future skills.

A meeting of ideas and forward-thinking perspectives

The Summit featured the participation of key institutional and academic partners,
including the Municipality of Paredes, the University of Aveiro, the Faculty of
Economics of the University of Porto (FEP), and Visionarium.
Representatives from Italy and Greece, members of the FuturSkills consortium, also
attended, reinforcing the project’s European dimension and its collaborative spirit.
Throughout the day, participants took part in plenary sessions with invited experts,
exploring the latest educational trends, and hands-on workshops designed for different
audiences – from students and teachers to educational leaders and trainers.

Artificial Intelligence in Education: Challenges an
Opportunities

One of the central themes of the Summit was the use of Artificial Intelligence in
Education, discussed not merely as a technological tool but as a catalyst for pedagogical
transformation.
Speakers highlighted topics such as:
● how AI can personalize learning and support different learning paces;
● the need to develop students’ digital and critical thinking skills; and
● how schools and teachers can adapt to the evolving technological ecosystem.

Experts emphasized the importance of preparing young people for professions that are
still emerging, fostering a more flexible, creative, and future-oriented education.

Results and impact of the FuturSkills project

The event also served as an opportunity to present the achievements and ongoing results
of the FuturSkills project, which aims to support teachers, schools, and trainers in
integrating innovative educational practices.
Key milestones include:
● the development of digital training resources focused on 21st-century skills;
● the creation of practical guides and tools to support the use of AI and digital
technologies in classrooms;
● and the strengthening of a European cooperation network linking partners from
Portugal, Italy, and Greece.

Building the future together

Above all, the Future-Ready Education Summit was a celebration of learning,
collaboration, and a shared vision for a more inclusive and innovative future of
education.
The enthusiasm and active engagement of all participants reaffirmed a collective belief: the
future of education is built by people – powered by technology, but guided by
purpose and vision.
